The month of January was a very busy month for the RHS Band Students.  The following are the results:

• January 6th:  Manuel Medrano, Celeste Baltierra, Alfredo Perez, Melissa Hernandez and Carlos Correa competed in the T.M.E.A. Area Band Tryouts in Alice.  Carlos Correa was selected 1st chair Bassoonist and has become our 7th Texas All State Band Member in the last 20 years.  Carlos will be in concert with the T.M.E.A. Texas All-State AAAA Symphonic Band on February 17th, in San Antonio.
   

• January 11th : Rosalie Cantu, Heather Garcia, Daniel Pena, Meagan Avila and Faith Orona qualified for the T.M.E.A. Freshman All-Region Band.  They performed at a concert on January 20th in Laredo, Texas
   

• January 13th : RHS Marching Band participated in the Nueces County Livestock Parade
   

• January 19th : El Mariachi De Mi Pueblo performed at Jones Auditorium at the campus of TAMUK.  The main attraction was El Mariachi Campanas De America from San Antonio.
   
   

• January 25th : Alfredo Perez, Steven Salazar and Manuel Medrano were selected to the T.M.E.A. All-Region Mariachi.  They will perform on March 3rd, in Laredo.
   
   
  For the month of February, we have 81 entries for the UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest to be held 23rd and 24th at TAMUK.  Our Winter Guard is in full swing.  There first competition is this Saturday, at Martin HS in Laredo.  And for the first time we have a Winter Drum Line.  As soon as we know more information we will let you know.
   We are currently have our candy bar sale for our Florida Trip, if you have not bought any let me know and we will send some one your way.
