resulted in more than 6,000 deaths of his fellow troops. Mr. Plummer showed the students a slideshow presentation with pictures and maps showing the students what it was like to be fighting on that island. He described the battle for Mount Suribachi which was one of the most deadly 36-day battles of World War II. He told the students that one-third of all the Marine Corps deaths during World War II happened during that battle. |
