Marisela Gonzalez is an accomplished educator and coach with a passion for both academics and athletics. She attended Texas A&M Kingsville, earning a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with a Minor in Art. Specializing in Cross Country and Track & Field, Marisela's teaching philosophy is rooted in helping students reach their full potential through high expectations, a safe learning environment, and the use of critical thinking skills. She believes in the power of collaboration with students, parents, and colleagues to foster strong relationships and empower students to take ownership of their learning journey.
As the Assistant Athletic Coach at RECHS, Marisela coaches Cross Country and Track & Field, in addition to sponsoring the Arts and Crafts Club. Her coaching achievements include five 4A Cross Country District Titles, numerous athletes qualifying for Regionals in Cross Country and Track & Field, and coaching multiple individual District, Area, and Regional Champions. In the 2023 Cross Country season, one of her runners placed in the top 10 at the State Meet, earning a State Medal. During the 2024 Track & Field season, she had two female State Qualifiers in three events, with one runner winning the bronze medal in the mile run.
Since 2014, Marisela has consistently guided State Qualifiers in Cross Country and Track & Field. Her dedication to education has also been recognized, as she was named Campus Teacher of the Year at Seale Junior High School in 2017-2018 and received an Educator Hero award from a top ten Senior in 2017.
